Street Photography and the Olympus Pen Lite

I recently reviewed a collection of street photography which was compiled from entrants in a competition to win a new Olympus E-PL3 Pen Lite. The images ranged vastly, but an underlying desire to capture life out in the open, during the course of a regular day was significant and prominent.

Some of my favorites were the sleek lines of an average handrail with the blurred out image of passersby. The metal glistened in the sunlight, and was juxtaposed to the fuzzy body shapes of the fluttering business people, chaotic teens, and birds floating by in the distance.

I also favored the dramatic impact of a  true black silhouette of a business man running up an outdoor stairwell placed in front of a descriptive blue sky with puffy white clouds. They were the two that inspired me to undertake creating an impromptu competition of my own. My photographer pals and I have set up some rules and a date of completion, along with a prize to be given to the winner. I am really looking forward to this challenge.
