Fashion TRends

The Top Fashion Accessory of 2011

I can’t stop thanking the fashion gods and goddesses for bringing belts back into full swing. According to fashion analysts, fashion photographers, and makeover pros with their own television programs a belt can turn a dud of a dress around, or alter a boxy cut jacket from leaning to a masculine look to an hourglass one.

Of all accessories, I can think of none that can alter a garment as significantly as a skinny, wide, glitzy, rustic, or embellished waist lassoing belt. Whether you drape it, or cinch it a belt defines dimensions, and emphasizes proportions, or in some cases creates the illusion of an hour glass figure. Very little, outside of contouring undergarments, can amend the reality of our body types, and yet the belt can, and does with such panache.

Belts are cropping up on everything we wear, swimsuits, raincoats, shorts, sweaters, and even wedding gowns. We just wonder why it took so long for this integral piece of a females wardrobe to gain such momentum. For so long the belt lingered in the shadows, and those worn were more or less nondescript, and required little commitment to any statement. Well, no matter they are here now, and we hope they stick around for a long long time.
